Tried looking for awards myself, but it's been painful.

Looking to go mid-Feb for about a week. President's day doesn't help award availability at all.

Tried looking for:
NYC - YYZ - HAV
NYC - CUN - HAV
NYC - PTY - HAV
NYC - YUL - HAV

Might end up just booking the chartered flight for $850 direct.

Have AA, UR, MR points to burn.

You won't find them as all of the USA based programs are legally barred from having anything to do with Cuba (you can't even credit paid flights to Cuba on partners, i.e. BA LGW-HAV, to USA-based FF programs).

You would have to book two separate tickets, one USA-not USA, and one not USA-HAV (and same on return). This would be four separate one way award tickets. And you would have to book the not USA-HAV legs through a non-USA based program.
