There’s a new promotion that American Express is targeting business card holders. If you enroll in the Pay Over Time program you will receive 10,000 Membership Rewards points.

This is very little effort just to enroll.

The terms and conditions say it’s a targeted offer, but it includes a bonus ID. If you don’t receive the email, I’d try calling American Express and give them the bonus ID to any Membership Rewards earning card you may have and attempt to enroll. What’s the worst that will happen? Exactly, they say no.

Terms and Conditions

1. Card Member must be eligible to enroll in the Extended Payment Option at the time of requesting enrollment.

2. Offer valid through 11/01/2016. To be eligible to earn Membership Rewards®points, you must be enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program at the time of enrollment in the Extended Payment Option feature. Only one offer per American Express OPEN® Business Card account is permitted, and points will be credited to your account within 6–8 weeks after enrollment is approved. Maximum 10,000 points per account. Bonus ID: A7FP.

Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards program apply. Visitmembershiprewards.com/terms or call 1-800-AXP-EARN (297-3276) for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice. The value of Membership Rewards points varies according to how you choose to use them. To learn more, go to www.membershiprewards.com/pointsinfo . Offer only available to Card Members who have received a communication directly from American Express for this offer. If you received an offer communication through e-mail, please refer to your communication piece for the offer expiration date. If your enrollment in the Extended Payment Option is approved after the expiration date you will not be eligible for this offer. American Express reserves the right to modify or revoke the offer at any time.

3. Eligible purchases of $100 or more will automatically be included in your Pay Over Time balance each month. This includes eligible purchases from your most recent billing statement. Purchases made but not applied to your account at the time of enrollment, will not be included in your Pay Over Time Balance. The following types of charges are ineligible for the Extended Payment Option: Cash and Express Cash, American Express® Travelers Cheques and other cash equivalents, casinos and gambling, American Express annual membership fees, and other transactions designated by us. If you believe an eligible transaction has not been included in your Pay Over Time balance, please call the number on the back of your Card.

The Annual Percentage Rate (“APR”) for the Extended Payment Option may vary and is determined for each billing period by adding 14.99% to the Prime Rate. The APR is 18.24% with a Daily Periodic Rate (“DPR”) of 0.0500%. A Penalty APR may be applied if you make late payments or your payment is returned unpaid. The Penalty APR is Prime Rate + 25.99%, which equals 29.24% with a DPR of 0.0801%. The Penalty APR may vary based on the Prime Rate. The variable rates calculated above vary based on the Prime Rate and are accurate as of 10/15/2015. Please refer to your Card Member Agreement for all other terms and conditions governing the use of Pay Over Time features.

We will not charge interest on Extended Payment Option charges if you pay the Account Total New Balance by the due date each month. Please refer to your Card Member Agreement for all other terms and conditions governing the use of Pay Over Time features.

The outstanding balances of Pay Over Time features may not exceed $35,000, unless we notify you otherwise. Consequently, any Charges that would cause the total balance of your Pay Over Time features to exceed that amount will be due in full. Please note, new Charges may be ineligible for extended payment even if they would not cause the total balance of your Pay Over Time features to exceed $35,000.

4. Extended Payment Option does not change spending capacity available on Card. No pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Purchasing power adjusts with your use of the Card, your payment history, credit record and financial resources known to us, and other factors.

Thank you. Perhaps I need to pay closer attention to the mail. Received a paper copy of this letter a few days ago. Now to retrieve from recycling bin.

I want to thank my house-keeper for failing to empty my desk trash bin for a week. Had a paper copy of the 10k points letter sitting in there underneath a ton of empty coffee cups and old food.

Do you have a link to the enrollment page?

This only works if you are targeted though. I have a family member who was not targeted and when she went to the link, she got the following message.

We're sorry, either your Membership Rewards® points offer has expired, or it is only available to Card Members who have received a communication directly from American Express for this offer. You are still invited to apply for the Extended Payment Option.

H and I signed up for Bus Plats the same time. He got the targeted offer; I got please sign up for nothing.
If it is not a HP, I'll sign him up. and then try to call in to get it for me, saying H got it and why not me? No time to followup now but hope to before it expires on 11/1.

We've gotten this bonus offer several times for different cards over a number of years. We just got the one mentioned in this thread. It's an easy 10K points. They post almost as quickly as you enroll. If they ever audited our accounts, they'd find we always pay in full and never carry a balance. I'm glad they don't as it's easy points.

Comments over on the blog confirm it is not a HP.

So I just got the 10K for my husband by replying to the offer online. Then called in, first person I spoke to said it is random and she could not offer it. I asked for a supervisor and she was able to manually add 10K MRs to my acct while I signed up online for pay over time.

Chatted with both reps; using humor; said we'd opened the accts at about the same time, that I felt like Amex was showing love to my husband and not me, and hoped they could give me the promo to keep the marital peace.

BTW she did not ask for any proof re: my husband's acct so this approach might work for imaginary husbands or SOs....
