Booked on to-be-retired MH A380 F. Options?

I booked DH on KUL-CDG for July (AAdvantage award ticket). This was to be his first F cabin; needlessly he is extremely excited. As luck would have it, it was reported yesterday that this route will be downgraded to a F-less 772 effective June. I am wondering what's the best practice when something like this happens. Is it reasonable to request MH to open up F space on other routes to accommodate displaced F passengers, or are we stuck with whatever is available now (BA F with high YQ; nothing in J)? Thanks for any tips.

I would call and request to be accommodated in what you paid for - first class on whatever available partner award seats are available. You wouldn't be the first one to get on BA without YQ in a case like this. AA can't force space open on partners, not even US.
