BarclayCard USAir MC 15k bonus miles + stacked retention offer

Not sure if this is targeted or not. My USAir MC CC AF hits end of 8/14. Interestingly I received mail stating that I can earn 15,000 bonus miles spending $500+/month in Aug, Sept, AND Oct 2014. assuming 1x spend that's 15,000 + 1,500 = 16,500 miles which can easily with <$12 of MSing

Even better, friend with same AF schedule called in asking for retention offer. AF waived + offered bonus categories for the next 90 days. Extra mile per dollar on gas, groceries up to 8,000 miles max. 4-6 weeks to post

So essentially 2x + 15k bonus offer with waived fee. Pretty good deal. Anyone else get this?

Thanks for the post on this... I have not heard of it.
I'm curious, do you have the 'regular' card or the 'World Elite' version of the card?

this is sweet. Unfortunately nothing for me yet. I've been ignoring this card intentionally to get promos like this. I'll watch out for this.

They waved my fee, offered 0% ( told them I don't carry a balance), offered extra mile per dollar on gas, groceries and utilities 90 days. I had already received the 3 months x 500 spend offer. 3 months of buying a $500 gift card at grocery store should take advantage of both of them.

I cleaned up with my renewal on this card. Got that exact offer (15k), annual renewal bonus (10k), annual fee waived, and was offered 10k for 3k in spending by retention specialist.

My better half gets the 15k promos seemingly like clockwork, dont use the card for anything else otherwise. As long as the annual fee gets waived its a nice one to hold onto...

I got this offer for one of my two US Airways cards and took it about a year ago. I had my wife sock-drawer her two cards looking for the same offer but no luck. I haven't heard of them offering this a lot lately. Nice to know it may be back as I've got my last card up for renewal.

I've been putting some spend on mine as I want to apply for the Arrival plus in the future.

Just got the 15k bonus miles offer for $500 of spending in each of December, January and February. I applied for the card last December 13th, so my AF is coming up shortly. Not bad, plus I think I have 10k miles coming with the renewal.

I got a 15K bonus offer for $750 spending in each of Oct, Nov, and Dec. Not quite as good as $500 per, but easily doable. My husband did not get the offer. Instead he got some not-even-worth-the-time offer that wasn't even worth remembering!

I've gotten these offers a couple of times (on my third card, and my wife on her second). Haven't seen one for a long time. At first I wasn't using the card at all ... no offer. Now I'm MSing for some miles, so my use, however non-productive for them, is probably enough to eliminate me from any such email. Would have been nice! I could have accelerated my miles work in short order!

I also got the "spend $500 in Dec., Jan., Feb." today on one of the four US Air cards we have in our household. That card's annual fee is coming up too, and I expect it is a way for them to encourage me to keep the card.

I will of course try to get the fee waived. If they refuse, I will consider whether the bonus is worth the fee. But until it hits, spending $500 a month is easy and I'll do it.

I believe that with the Chase United Explorer card you can actually keep the card for up to 60 days after the $95 fee hits, and then cancel the card and still get the fee reimbursed. I wonder if this might work with the Barclays US Air card and if the timing will make it viable. TBD.

I can confirm 60 days for Barclay as of 3 months ago (and has been for a while).

I had the spend $500 for Nov, Dec & Jan offer emailed to me. Unfortunately it arrived after I was already in Africa for a month minus the card so I would have been physically unable to do the spend.

My anniversary came mid-Nov and the 10k bonus posted right on time. A week ago I called to try for an annual fee waiver and was shot down. The fee had only posted to the account, the statement had not gone out. Now the statement has gone out so I called back and got the $89 fee waived! Very happy as I don't want to miss out on an easy 10,000 AA miles next year AND the 10% bonus as I have both this card and an AA card as well.

The datapoint here is that if you get shot down while asking for a fee waiver and your statement with the fee hasn't gone out, wait until it does and try again.
