As you probably know, I recently botched the drawing for winners for a 6-month trial of Jet.com with immediate pre-launch access to the site. Fortunately, Jet.com gave me 10 more codes to give away.

So the 17 folks that were left out got another chance, and here are the results:

Now keep in mind that anyone can still get a free 6-month membership by signing up at Jet.com, the winners simply get to start using the site immediately. And my understanding is that the 6-month free trial will be reduced to 3-months, so it’s probably worth it to sign up since all you need to do is enter your email.

Ipad Air 2 16gb Deals at Target

Target this week has a fairy solid deal in their weekly ad for $399.99 for Ipad Air 2s (16gb in Gold and Silver). These are currently selling for around $450 at Amazon.

While that might be about breakeven or slight loss after Amazon fees ($27 at $450), taxes, and shipping costs to Amazon, of course it gets better.

If you download Target’s Cartwheel app to your phone, you will get another 10% off, so you will save $40 per tablet. Nice! But why stop there…

You could always pay with gift cards… that you bought at say Staples with your Chase Ink card to get 5x points… or you could go to your local grocery store with one of your Amex cards that gets 5-6% back plus fuel points, or buy discounted Target gift cards online. These could net you another 5-10% of benefit – Sweeet!

Amex Sync Pumps this into a phenomenal deal..

If you were targeted for the amazing $30 off $100 Amex Sync deal for Target / Walmart, this deal just became unbelievable. Instead of trying to buy $100 Visa cards and taking a cutting 20% of your Amex sync profits ($6 in fees on $30 benefit); use them to buy the ipad!

Heres how to do it

  • Add the Amex Sync offer to all of your Amex accounts online on the offers for you page. Make sure to have a separate browser or tab with the offer open for each card you have with the offer, then accept them all
  • Go to Target and use that card to buy 5 $100 Target gift cards in separate transactions to trigger the offer 5 times for that card. Repeat for all cards you have
  • Now go the electronics department and buy the ipads paying with your just purchased Target GCs. Make sure you use the Cartwheel offer on your phone to get the 10% discount. Target may offer you 5% to sign up for their debit card, I was able to get this 5% for signing up even though I paid with gift cards (manager had to add 5% discount)
So my net cost for 4 in two transactions was under just $1500 (e.g., 15 $100 gift cards plus about $18 left over) plus $450 back from Amex….expected proceeds from Amazon are ~$420 * 4 = $1680 assuming the price is still at $450.

You could also price match the $399 to Staples.

They should honor the $399 price, but you would have a hard time getting them to match the $359.99 price after the 10% cartwheel discount because they usually won’t match coupons.

If you match to Staples you would give up the 10% cartwheel discount but get 5% in rewards and 5x Chase Ink points without the hassle of making two stops, or this is a pretty nice way to monetize rewards since you won’t pay the tax after applying the rewards.

Some Stuff I bought at Sears / Kmart

  • I went for the gas grill in the Choice VIP benefits quarterly benefits. No I’m not going to resell, just had a family member that could use one.
  • I bought some of the Kmart free after points crap that Frequent Miler wrote about today here. I thought I had missed the boat by waiting until today, but apparantly they have a lot of crappy headphones and bluetooth speakers. Could Vivitar be even lower-end then Nakamichi… I’m guessing yes. Received about $450 in points back on $400 purchase plus portal bonuses. Points balance is creeping up to around $1k worth so now would prefer to burn some down instead of keeping building them up
