Finally, a bone. And a decent one at that. Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping has Groupon with a juicy 9x bonus. And of course these points do count towards that all important companion pass.
How to juice up the 9x to 14x or more…
First buy Groupon gift cards somewhere. Best bet:
- Supermarkets using your Old Blue Cash, or another card with a supermarket category bonus. You typically also get 2-4x fuel points at Kroger, for example, so you are getting 5% off, plus fuel points, then the 9x bonus when you buy goods from groupon
- Go through a portal to Staples to buy Groupon gift cards with your Chase Ink card. While portals generally exclude gift cards, I’ve had decent luck with buying groupon egift cards at Staples with the Southwest portal, Alaska, and others. Savingstar offering 6%, Southwest another 2x miles, plus you are getting 5x miles with your Chase Ink card. BUT, this often takes a day to get the egift cards, so if the promo is just for a day you will have to accept the lower portal bonus, or wait till the next big bonus.
