Earlier this week I wrote about a mediocre tablet that can be acquired fairly cheaply at Sears after points back.
The basic deal is a $79.99 tablet which gives back $39.99 in points, so a net cost of $40. But I was able to apply a $20 off $75 coupon so my net cost was about $25 after tax.
This just got even better…
Giftcardmall through ebay has Sears $100 gift cards for $80 (20% off), and $200 for $175 (12.5% off)
There is a limit of 2 on the $100 cards and 1 on the $175, so $400 total gift cards for $335 if you max it out.
And Frequent Miler reported a few weeks ago that Sears gift card purchased through giftcardmall on ebay earned 5x points when bought with a Chase Ink card as it coded as an “office supply” store.
Add a portal bonus when you use the Sears gift cards for another 5x points (through AAdvantage shopping) for 20% off + 10x points total on the $100 cards
Had I used the gift cards, and gone through a 5% portal I think the tablet would have been about $5 net cost.
Or, buy things that are competitively priced on Sears for up 20% plus 10x miles (ok, discount goes down over $200 since you can only get two $100 cards at 20% off, but maybe your SO has an ebay account too.).
Like a Nikon D3300 camera (497 at Sears, 497 on Amazon)
