Citigold Checking Bonus

And yet another delay. First I was told via SM that the bonus would post no later than 2/29/16. When it didn't post, I called and was told it would post the week of 3/2/16. Now I get the following:

I can confirm per the terms and conditions of our promotions, to apply the AAdvantage incentives within 90 days from the end of the statement period in which you completed all your offer requirements. The last requirement met is dated 11/02/15. Our 90 day requirement began from the December statement. You should receive your reward incentives no later than end of your March statement. The supervisor has documented your account regarding the terms and conditions, as well, and incentives are confirmed to be applied.

I met the terms 11/2/15. That statement ended 11/30/15. The 90 day requirement should begin from that date which means I should have received the bonus 2/28/16. Correct?

Edit: Per T&C's, "The AAdvantage bonus miles will be credited by Citibank to your AAdvantage account within 90 days from the end of the statement period in which you complete all offer requirements."

Strikingly similar to me. I met the final requirement on 11/2. SM'd in mid-November and Citi confirmed I had met terms and that I would receive miles on February statement. I did not receive miles by 3/4, so I SM'd them again. I received a ridiculous response:

I understand your concerns regarding the credit of the bonus miles from the promotion, since we advised that the bonus will be credited on the statement cycle of February, I will gladly explain.

I understand that all requirements were met, during the month of November. However please note that the fulfillment terms for the promotion states "The bonus miles will be credited to your existing AA member account 90 days from the end of the statement period in which you complete all offer requirements." To set your expectations, if you were targeted, met the terms and if all requirements were completed on the statement cycle that ended on 11/30/2015, then the bonus points will be credited by 02/29/2016 and will reflect during the month of March 2016.

So I called in on Monday 3/7 and asked about the miles that I was told I would receive by 2/29 (I just didn't mention the most recent SM exchange). CSR filed a dispute and said I would hear back within 2 business days. I had an e-communication from Citi today saying they have credited the miles and they will show on AA within 10 business days. Logged onto AA and the 50k is there with a posting date of 3/8. Success!

I didn't call yesterday as I had already written them a letter pointing out they were in violation of their T&Cs with the account. I kept the tone nice. I was waiting to see if I got a response from that. This morning I had a note in my mailbox with a PDF file attached that needed a PW (which was in a letter in my Citi account). The PDF was a letter from the Director of Client Research apologizing for the delay and assuring me they want to credit my account. It stated they needed my AA miles number. It was included on my application plus they have my number from other accounts. I won't push it though, or the fact that three other CSRs did not mention needing an AA number.

In February, I got a secured message reply that the bonus requirements were met and that the 50K miles wiuld be posted in 90 days bla bla bla. I wrote to them again last Tuesday asking them to post the miles before the devaluation and the reply (from the same rep) was that the bonus requirements were not met! I wrote back disputing and someone else replied today that they're investigating. GRRRR!

This has been a regretful experience. But nevertheless, I got 135K miles so far and I expect another 150K when the miles finally post. This scheme could have yielded even more miles, but I made some mistakes on the way (which only added to my disatisfaction).

Now this business of having to downgrade the account to avoid overdraft charges, parking $1500 for a month before closing the account is another pita - the phone call took at least 10 minutes, they made me hear and keep agreeing to the page long disclosure.

I knew this would take some work, and tried to resist the temptation, but in the end the lure of free miles won out. I'm hopelessly addicted! Next week I'm going for counselling in the beaches of in Rio de Janeiro for 40K miles + $59.

Thanks! Originally it was just me and my wife, but as of yesterday my daughter is also coming. Her ticket price was 40K+$133, but just today tfd had the ticket for less that $500, which combined with a $100 gc would have cost me less than $400. But that's water under the bridge, I'm happy she's coming regardless of the cost.
