I was talking to some friends about an upcoming trip they have to Europe and got super excited for them. In talking to them, I was kinda flooded with a bunch of memories and experiences that Jess and I have had that I’ve never really written about on the blog. The reality is, I’d say at least 50% of our travel has been to Europe, but I’ve blogged very little about it because most of it was pre-blog and pre-miles obsession. But in honor of my friends’ pending trip, here are some things we learned on each of our Europe trips. And of course, I know people have different views on travel, so if you disagree or have thoughts contrary to my own, I’d love to hear them! These are just my own silly thoughts.
Some Impressions of Bora Bora
So Jess and I have been here for a few days now, and since we’re both dealing with some mild sunburn, we’ve decided to chill for a little while. So here are some of my impressions of Bora Bora thus far!
There’s a Burn Notice on My Points: Introduction
Burn Notice: Delta Skymiles Part 1
Burn Notice: Delta Skymiles Part 2
Burn Notice: American AAdvantage
I’ve decided to put a burn notice on some of my miles. Between my wife and I, we’ve accumulated over one million miles, mostly within the last year and a half or so. Well, as Hilton (most recently) and countless other award programs have taught us time and time again, miles and points are a volatile currency whose value only goes one way: down. So I’ve decided it’s time for us to book a couple of trips. There is no point on sitting on a stockpile of points – so let’s do this. Throughout this series, I will be talking about how I burned these points to give you examples of how you can burn yours!
How it all began
They say marriage changes you. Before I married my wife, my favorite thing to do was to vegetate at home in front of the television or with an Xbox controller in my hand. While I still enjoy those things, my wife loves to travel, and over the past few years I’ve learned to love it too. In fact, at one point I was a little bit obsessed with it. Despite having very restrictive vacations, we were traveling as much as possible for awhile. This was the first step in my evolution.
