Well, that went swimmingly. We had an uneventful and relatively stress-free flight from Boston Logan Airport to Reagan National (DCA). Hooray! I’m sure not every flight will be like this, but none of the things I feared came to fruition. Every flight is different, but I’ll recount how we handled this flight with baby M in case there are any other first time flying parents out there who are interested.

Pretty soon, our little baby M will be taking her first flight to Washington, D.C. When we first booked these tickets for a family wedding, it seemed like the logical thing to do. Babies are supposed to be easy to travel with before they’re mobile and one hour on the plane seemed preferable to eight hours of driving. Also, before we became parents we were encouraged to “start as you mean to go.” Meaning, if we plan to travel with baby M eventually, then we might as well start that way.

Getting an Infant Passport

I don't want to go!
I’m ready to hit the road!

Basically, as soon as she could keep her eyes open long enough, I wanted to get our daughter a passport. I wanted to leave plenty of time for the passport to arrive for summer travel. Anyway, I’m sure any parent who has gotten an infant passport knows how to do this, but I figured I’d show the steps we took to get the passport as smoothly as possible. We applied about a month ago, and little mini Miss Points got her passport a couple days ago, just in time for her second month birthday! She’s so excited! (Or maybe that’s just me).
