Good points earning credit cards always come with a catch: an annual fee. Obviously, once you have 4, 5, or 10 of these cards, it becomes unwise to pay for all of the annual fees. So you’ll need to do two things: decide what cards to cancel, and then actually cancel those cards to avoid the annual fee. Here’s how:
Credit Card Application Strategy: Meeting Minimum Spending Requirements
If you’ve done an app-o-rama and have multiple spending requirements to meet in order to unlock bonuses, you might be feeling a little bit of stress. After all, you may have never applied for multiple cards on the same day before. If you’re feeling stressed, don’t fear – this post is here to help. And just as a reminder, you should not be messing around with these strategies unless you are paying your credit card bills off in full each month!
Credit Card Application Strategy: Calling Reconsideration Lines
I generally don’t like talking to human beings (preferring to do everything online), but if you’re applying for a lot of credit cards, eventually you are going to need to speak to a representative. This isn’t a necessarily a bad thing, as I’ll outline in the post below. Calling credit card reconsideration lines puts you in touch with people who can extend you credit (and thus approve you for new cards) when the computer algorithm dictates otherwise.
Real Life Award Booking: New Zealand and Japan, Part 2 – Booking the flights
In the first half of this Real Life Award Booking, I outlined how you can earn enough miles for a round trip business class tickets to Europe in just a few months. For an extra few thousand miles per person, I helped my friend book a ticket from Washington DC to Auckland, New Zealand, and then back to the US through Tokyo, Japan. It costs 107,500 miles plus taxes and fees per person, with TWO long haul legs in business class. In this post I’ll outline how you can do that – right now! Or later…
Real Life Award Booking: New Zealand and Japan, Part 1 – Getting the points
For the past couple months, I’ve been helping a friend plan a big trip to New Zealand using frequent flier miles. I helpd out at the beginning, but he did most of the work in the end – it’s not too bad once you get the hang of it! In this post I’ll outline how he earned the miles, and then in Part 2 I’ll discuss how he strung together New Zealand and Japan into one award trip. Frankly, I have traveling envy – I’d love to book this trip for myself!
