As I’ve mentioned in the past, the Chase Ink cards have some of the best sign up bonuses out there. Well, to celebrate small business week, Chase has increased the sign up bonuses until June 22! The best offers in my opinion are either the Ink Bold or Ink Plus card which give you 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points after $5000 of spending in three months. Those are 10,000 more points than the already lucrative standing offer of 50,000! The rest of this post will just address a few of the questions you might have. [Read more…]

In the good old days, before I even got into it (unfortunately), you could net 150,000 AAdvantage miles in one day without breaking a sweat. Even crazier, they would count to million miler status. Alas, those days have gone, and it’s gotten even harder than when I built up my AA balance. Still, there are options to get a lot of AA miles in a short amount of time, and a lot of great redemptions to be had. So let’s get into the brass tacks.

Update (5/1/2013): It seems that the 50K United Mileage Plus Explorer offer is no longer available anywhere. That’s too bad – adjust your strategies accordingly.
I thought I’d start this series with my favorite mileage currency out there: United Miles. As I stated in the introduction, United has lots of partners and great award rules (one stopover and TWO open jaws), giving a lot of flexibility and options. The good news is, there are a lot of cards out there to help build a balance in United Mileage Plus quickly. The bad news is, everything revolves around Chase credit cards, meaning it will take a little bit of time.
April Credit Card App-o-rama: 4 for 5 for 240,000 Miles and Points
I’ve been spacing out my credit card applications, so I decided to go for a big one this April. I applied for five cards, and after some phone calls, was approved for four of them to the tune of 240,000 total miles and points. I’ll explain the five cards I applied for, how I was approved, the sign up bonuses, and why I didn’t get the fifth one.

One of the most frequent questions clients ask me is “How do I get a lot of _______ miles quickly?” Not everyone is a points freak like me, so often people are looking to build up a bunch of miles in a particular program so that they can take one trip – honeymoon, anniversary, trip of a lifetime, whatever. The good news is, if you have six months to a year, you can totally build up a large enough balance to go wherever you’d like – sometimes even in business class! In this introduction post, I’ll review the mileage costs for awards for the different programs, what areas of the world work well with which programs, and special award ticketing rules to be aware of.
