A few months ago, I happened upon the Saverocity network of blogs when they were running their Mile Madness contest. There was a lot of focus on manufactured spending and some pretty interesting ideas regarding miles and points. What I liked most about Saverocity is their recognition that points and miles are just a part of one’s overall portfolio – they are an asset – not as useful as cash but an asset nonetheless.
Anyway, a few weeks ago, Matt wrote a post saying Saverocity was looking for new writers. Long story short, the Saverocity team has invited me to join up! I’m excited and privileged to start working with the Saverocity team, including the other new bloggers who have been brought on.
For Saverocity readers, what will my blog be about? Well, I’m definitely not as creative as those guys for sure, so if you’re expecting that kind of stuff expect to be disappointed. What I love – besides traveling – is unlocking the puzzles and mysteries of award bookings. Sometimes I think I enjoy booking awards as much as I love flying them – strange routings, obscure partners – I love figuring out that kind of stuff. I got into this hobby trying to travel more for less – but it is the challenge of actually booking the award tickets that got me hooked.
This blog is a smorgasbord of things – tips for beginners on how they can learn to navigate the ins and outs of booking award tickets themselves coupled with random musings about traveling with my family. I got into this game juuuust around the time my wife, Jess, got pregnant. So we were able to take two trips on points and miles and then boom our family grew by 50%. So the blog is also a chronicle of our journey and the story of us figuring out how to continue to travel (and travel comfortably) with our daughter, who will turn 18 months old in Germany next month.
For all six of my loyal readers (my mom doesn’t even read my blog), expect things to pretty much stay the same. I’m in the process of giving the blog a little bit of a makeover, but aside from that, expect the same hard hitting content you have come to know and love. If I did everything correctly, those of you who are following via e-mail or wordpress should have been moved over. If so, you’re probably reading this…
To everyone – the move over to Saverocity ended up being a little bit of a rush job because we’ve been trying to get it done before I leave for Brazil later this week. I’ll try to get things as functional as I can before then, but I expect there will be some hiccups. My goal is to post from Brazil daily (internet pending), and when I get back I’ll sort out all the other stuff.
Take a peek around and enjoy! Thanks for reading, and thanks to Matt and Saverocity for this opportunity!
Oh also, my new logo was designed at Tsai Designs – check it out!

I think it’s great that we’ll have several different angles on family travel in addition to Nick’s awesome trip reports http://saverocity.com/pfdigest/clt-avl-via-hyundai-stop-jd/
But I reserve the right to post poorly taken photos as well 😉
