Consumer Warning – I have heard that EnergyPlus has not been honoring mileage signup bonuses, whether through a link like this or through a targeted mail. There is currently a class action suit with them. I am waiting to see what they offer me, but in the meantime I wouldn’t recommend you signup for this bonus at this time.
25,000 United Miles
United is offering a great signup bonus through this link (please note this is for New Yorkers only, if you live in a different state you need a different link- but google is your friend and I simple entered the terms ‘united energy partner 25000 ny’ to get this one, so you might have some luck changing the state – I know there is a New Jersey offer and some other states too for the same 25,000.
You earn 20,000 miles on the second month, and a further 5,000 if you hold the Chase Mileage Plus Credit Card (which of course, we do..) so that is an easy 25K plus an extra 3 miles per month from the Supply portion of your bill.
Energy plus is an ESCO – what this means is that Con Ed will still supply my equipment etc to get my energy, but the actually energy comes from a different location, for the customer this means that to switch to an ESCO there is nothing more to do than signup and you are on your way. If you look at your bill, you will see two charges, one for supply and one for Con Ed – it is the Esco Supply charges that will be affected.
Also – be warned… the terms of this ESCO state that the supply charge is variable which means they may (read certainly will) start slowly bumping up the price of KW per Hour every month. However there is no charge to exit so i’ll be monitoring this, and if it gets above my current rate I’ll switch it back over to Con Ed, in fact I might keep swapping it back and forth if this bonus is available multiple times, which I think it might be!
So, it’s a great deal, but be prepared to have them slowly squeeze the pennies out of your bill every month and they will make all these miles back and more from you if you stick with them.

Were you able to get your miles after the 2 months and (presumably) before you canceled on the 3rd month? I received a similar offer in NJ for 30k UA miles and was wondering how painful/painless the process is for swapping in/out of energy plus from your previous provider. Also wondering if they have indeed been honoring their mileage bonus promises.

It was pretty easy- though I think I let it run a few months as prices were ok- then the leaped up…
