Valid until 3/7/2013 Staples Coupon for $75 off any Windows PC, Laptop or Tablet either online or in-store, the code for in-store is 67900 the code for online purchases is 70847. You can either print the coupon, or simply tell them the code at the register for your discount.
I decided to look through the Staples stock to see if there were any manufactured spending opportunities – the goal being to find a product that is desirable and discounted enough to recover any losses that come from sale price, eBay fees and shipping. I decided to pick up a HP Envy HP X2-11G010NR which is a rather slick looking machine that is a Tablet and Laptop in one. They are currently retailing on eBay for $675, so I plan to undercut that price and make a little profit on the transaction.
I opted to not use my Staples Rewards ( I have $55 from last month) to further reduce the price of this purchase in order to keep my spend as high as possible – the purpose is to put as much on my Chase Ink Bold as I can, and keeping Sale Price and Cost price as close as possible to break even after I pay all my out of pocket expenses.
Price Breakdown
Original Price $849, discounted price $599 (already cheaper than I see on eBay) apply coupon code of $75 on top, and we are down to $525. Unfortunately I live in NYC so I do have to swallow the sales tax of $46
Final cost price to myself is $571.58
So with my basis of $571.58 I have to find a sales price that will undercut the competition so I gain the sale on eBay; including building in the commission of 9% to eBay and Shipping Charges. I’m picking a starting price of $649 to remain competitive and yet undercut the market, and even though I don’t have the Tablet yet in my possession I am listing it now to start the sales process (it is a 7 day auction so I want to start the clock running quickly).
The haul gained from this will be:
3997 Ultimate Rewards
571*7 Ultimate Rewards (5x from Ink Bold 2 x From Shopping through Ultimate Rewards Portal)
Next month there would also be 5% Cash back from Staples so if this comes up again I’ll gain another $25 in Cash Back, however this coupon expires in 48hrs so I am jumping on it.
The cost will be dependent on any Profit or Loss I incur in the sale, hopefully the HP Envy 2x will be attractive enough to be snapped up at $649, but it might have to be discounted, or it may even go for more… time will tell.
