For those of you that live under bridges (and yet aren’t internet trolls) i’d like to alert you to the Amazing Annual SPG 30K Bonanza!!!
I try not to put links into posts because I think people might click first and ask questions later, so I will just talk about this card, whip you into a frenzy, and then offer you the chance to play the house.
In my (rarely humble) opinion SPG points are the most valuable travel currency in the points and miles world. Annoyingly they are hard to earn, however the SPG Amex signup bonus does offer a decent way to gather a lot of points fairly easily. The standard annual signup bonus for the SPG Amex is 25K (after meeting spend requirements) however, each year, without fail, they have bumped it to 30K and every time it happens you would think that Christ has risen again, and commanded Office Depot to stock Vanilla Reloads, to be sold only in blocks of $10,000, and only to holders of an Ink card.
I want YOU to have this referral
This 30K offer is targeted at the peasants who do not own a blog. Not that it stops well known bloggers from pushing it. If you want to refer a friend, (or a complete stranger) to the SPG card they can get the 30K offer, and for each one you convert you get to earn 5K SPG. In order to refer them you have to hold a card, and you should have recently received an email about this, if you haven’t here is the referral link. This seems to jump to a ‘business page’ so I’d use it only as a backup if you haven’t got that email.
Please, don’t let it go to your head. The power trip that comes from earning 5K SPG can be overwhelming, and I don’t want you to lose yourself in it.
Conga’s are so dodgy
A conga line is supposed to be a series of replies in the comments where you use the previous persons link and then share your own… however I have to say from having set one up on The Forum that I think people just put their own link up there and don’t click on others…. therefore, in order to address this gaming of the system I would like to suggest a new idea.
If you would like to promote your referral link in the comments please do, and perhaps make it a bit more fun and interesting by telling us why you should get it rather than the next guy. Other ways to promote your comment are encouraged, such as poetry, however, please do not use twitter ads to draw traffic in as that would not be in the spirit of the game.
If you don’t have the card already you can’t play
It’s a referral thing – I’m sorry… if you don’t have the card you need to get it (from one of the cool people in the comments) then once you have it you can join in.
If you are a blogger you can’t play
Self explanatory. If there is any confusion just hit retweet or share on twitter, it won’t kill you grumpy bumps.
Wrap Up
In case it didn’t make any sense, I want readers who hold the card to put in their referrals to this post, and allow people to share with one another. I hope that you can use the platform to benefit – the new cardholder gets a great signup bonus, and you score 5K points. Use the comments here to connect with your fellow readers and help one another out.
Enjoy!

Referral for the personal card only; open to a “you use my personal referral” and “I’ll use your business referral” trade. I deserve your referral more than the next guy because I am FIRST (oh, wait this isn’t TBB), and on the internet, I am beautiful, 18 yo blond naive girl-woman who can travel to your hometown if you give me your name and email address (for the referral). Just kidding, I am blonde and a woman, but all the rest is made up. I do need you name and email for the referral though.
Matt says
Wow! If I didn’t have one of each already I’d be there! Blond and Beautiful- I think this can’t be topped, and you are Number1!
ABC says
My mother was blond, young and very blue eye at one point in her life. Mediterraneans would of course have assumed that she was easy.
Sadly I have no physical attributes that would make me a winner in this game. I will not take advantage of my mother for only 5k SPG points. I have some standards (albeit very low).

Use my link because I got here first! 🙂

Thanks!!
Matt says
Well, not to be picky… but you are second, and your link is only good for 25K. So… try again next time.. I wonder how you actually have a link too…?
sasha says
Yea I realized both flaws =p clearly this is my first time! At least Im clearly not an experienced blogger!
sasha says
Oops turns out I was neither first, NOR posted the right link! Please use this one 🙂

Thanks again!
Kim says
Nor are you blonde and beautiful and 18 at least on the internet. See FIRST post. 😉
Matt says
Yeah he is totally up against it… but he does have a clicky link that offers ease of transaction.
What do you want America? An easy link or an 18 year old blonde?
Kim says
I am happy to see you didn’t say an easy 18 yo blonde, but I think I implied as much in my initial post. I am VPNing in from Russia, so I won’t have a stampede at my door.

Sunday Reader Question: What’s the best rewards card for tall travelers?
TPGI reader Reginald asks on Facebook:
“I’m a little bit overwhelmed by the variety of travel credit cards out there. I’m 6′ 6″, and I’m hoping to take my wife to Paris next summer for our anniversary. Given that I’m so tall, which credit cards should I get for the trip?”
It’s a great question, and one that I had myself back when I started learning about points and miles. The most important thing to remember is not to get an elite card that could make your head bigger, such as the Amex Platinum. Doing so would make it even more likely for you to injure your head on door frames and ceilings.
Ultimately, the best card for tall travelers is the SPG Amex with its 30,000 point sign up bonus. (Trust me on this one – I’m 6′ 7″!) You can apply through the sign up link in my message above.

Attention: The President/CEO
Dear Sir / Madam,
Confidential Business Proposal
Having consulted with my colleagues and based on the information gathered from the Blogosphere Chambers Of Commerce And Industry, I have the privilege to request your assistance to transfer the sum of 30,000 SPG (thirty thousand starwood points) into your accounts. The above sum resulted from an over-active promotion, executed, commissioned and paid for by Affily & Ates Marketing Inc. This action was however intentional and since then the fund has been in a suspense account at The Central Bank Of Blogosphere Bank.
We are now ready to transfer the fund for your trip overseas and that is where you come in. It is important to inform you that as civil servants, we are forbidden to operate an external account; that is why we require your assistance. The total sum will be shared as follows: 83.333% for you and 16.667% f or us (5000 miles), to coverlocal and international expenses incidental to the transfer.
The transfer is risk free on both sides. I am an accountant with the Blogosphere Link Affiliate Carpet-Bombing Corporation (BLACBC). If you find this proposal acceptable, we shall require the following actions:
(a) An initial click on this link: http://goo.gl/mpf6Qq
(b) Confidential information as required by law to proceed
Please to note we will furnish you with the text containg a breakdown explaining, comprehensively what is required of you. The business will take us minutes to accomplish.
Please reply urgently.
Best regards.

Dearest friend,
My family and I had a visit to the Maldives unannounced some days back for a short vacation, unfortunately we were mugged at The W Retreat and Spa Hotel where we are staying, and all cash, cell phones and credit cards were stolen from us. Fortunately we still have our passports with us.
The police here are not helping issues at all. Our only hope is to stay here one more night but we can’t afford the $1400 room. If you don’t use my link and get us the 5K Starpoints we need, we may be forced to move out of our overwater bungalow. I really need your assistance. In the form of your name and email address so I can have AMEX send the correct link, and which Starwood card you don’t already have. Wait, there’s a Starwood card you haven’t had? No wonder you’re stuck at home! Please, let me know if you can help us out.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you. On Twitter, FT or SF KennyBSAT

Thanks for the assist, Mike! Us BMW drivers really are the worst. Say, you don’t happen to have an SPG card, do you?
And here I was being courteous and taking Matt’s advice to shorten my url. I would think spammers would generate a more believable username, like…Matt or Mike? I hope my new one is to your liking 🙂

Well.
My husband used his link, actually, I used my husband’s link.
But I will make it an even better deal. I will throw in, at no extra cost to you, a link with no additional credit card offers. My notatravel blog. Full length link, because I can (and it isn’t that long)

Wow! That is awesome – we are thinking of adding new finance and travel bloggers, has Her Highness ever seen a credit card? Could be all that is needed for my selection criteria.
KennyB says
So who is referring Princess Prickle Pants? Or is AMEX prejudiced against hedgehogs too?
Princess Pricklepants says
Kenny,
I used Fancy’s link. Of course.

Steven (probably) says
Dear referral link interested parties, this is a link that refers to something, so it’s totally reasonable to think of it as a referral link. The content is less about credit cards, and more about anarchist hedgehog bloggers, but that seems somehow remarkably relevant to this:

Please feel free to use someone else’s offer of credit card thingies, I don’t know a lot about those, though Haley does.
