Coming Monday 6 May – Ebates 20th Birthday!

May 1, 2019 By Trevor 2 Comments

May is a great time for online shoppers of all kinds! I’ve long talked about the power of shopping portals to increase miles and points balances, but May happens to be Ebates Birthday month, and with this year being Ebates 20th Birthday, they’re going bigger than we’ve ever seen before!

Past Ebates Birthdays

Past Ebates Birthdays usually see 15% off like when we even saw Staples included at 15% in 2018. Though the best was Ebates birthday celebration in 2015, when they did 16% cashback, translating to 21x at Staples. Bottom line, Ebates is the portal to check in May!

Ebates 20th Birthday

Ebates will begin celebrating their 20th birthday starting on May 6th with 20% cashback on many, many stores!

Right now, Ebates isn’t giving a ton of insight, just that a bunch of categories that will have some stores at 20% cashback:

Of interest, we don’t see Office Supplies, do note that when you hover over the dropdown, it displays “Electronics and Office.” So I think there’s still some chance we’ll see some of our favorite stores.

But wait, it gets better, wayyy better!

I know, right now you’re thinking, “how do you get better than 20% cashback?” Well, what if I told you, it could really be 20x American Express Membership Rewards Points? Remember a few months ago when Chuck over at Doctor of Credit wrote about Ebates Partnership with American Express? And how $5 of cashback transferred into 500 Membership Rewards points? Yeah, like I said, what’s better than 20% cashback? 20x Membership Rewards!

Wrapping Up

Ebates 20th Birthday is a big deal, and it starts on 6 May! I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Staples, which would make it a 25x opportunity.

Will you participate in Ebates 20th Birthday? If so, will you go for the 20% cashback or 20x Membership Rewards Points?

How to use Membership Rewards Points on Amazon

July 8, 2018 By Trevor 1 Comment

There’s a super awesome deal going on now, that gives you 20% back on Amazon Purchases, up to $100 back, if you pay with at least one American Express Membership Rewards point. Doctor of Credit has a great and updated post on the deal. But as I was going through Amazon, I realized I’d never linked my accounts, as a result, I couldn’t use Membership Rewards Points on Amazon!

How to use Membership Rewards Points on Amazon

Linking is fairly easy to do, first you want to go to Amazon.com/Membership Rewards

Use Membership Rewards on Amazon

You’ve still got a few steps to go through though.

You’ll want to click that Get Started link, then you’ll see the following screen:

Once you decide to add an account, you’ll need to enter your name and your credit card number:

From there you’ll have to confirm address, then provide just a bit more info:

Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll just need to select an American Express card to pay with, then you should have the option to pay with points.

Wrapping Up

Hopefully this provides a pretty easy to follow way to link your American Express Membership Rewards card to your Amazon account. More importantly, hopefully this provides you a way of maximizing some of the incredible opportunities like the 20% off purchases, up to $100 back deal that is currently happening. But I’d imagine there are so many more awesome deals to come!

Travel News – Thai Aviation Downgraded, Hyatt Diamond Experience, Bloggers and Charity, Royal Air Maroc’s Dreamliner,

December 4, 2015 By Trevor Leave a Comment

Note: Things are a bit light this week, as I’m traveling with my brother and father to Germany to visit the Christmas Markets. Check out my thoughts of the Christmas Markets of Mainz last year, taking my wife and mother in law.

The Weekly News Roundup is a collection of headlines from around the internet that caught the attention of the Tagging Miles team. Content on these blogs do not necessarily reflect the positions of Tagging Miles, and should not be considered endorsements. Have a great story we should read? Contact us now and let us know!

Travel:

  • American Airlines ceases selling tickets for pesos in Argentina.
  • Royal Air Maroc will fly their 787 Dreamliner to Washington Dulles from Casablance. I’m certainly appreciating all the 787 Dreamliner options from Dulles.
  • Thai Aviation received a downgrade from the FAA. Probably not much impact, but, and maybe I’m reading too much into this, but it seems like the Military Junta has more work to do.
  • Dia shares her latest Hyatt Diamond experience. I’ve had varying experiences myself, although my one experience at the Hyatt Chesapeake wasn’t amazing to begin with.
  • How many of the 15 longest commercially operated (or scheduled to operate) flights do you know?
  • Malaysia Airlines becomes the latest Emirates partner. This seems to me like a very smart move for Malaysia Airlines, as they are likely to get a fair amount of feed traffic (as Alaska Air gets), and can focus on the fundamentals as the airline rebuilds.

Miles and Points:

  • Loosely filed under Miles and Points, Matt makes a statement in response to a blogger who’s trying to confuse his readers–my read, at least.
  • Gary Leff shares a way to transfer Membership Rewards points to British Airways Avios 1-to-1.
