Reselling:

• I love seeing innovation in our space. This week, Vinh shares another reselling idea — concert tickets! I’ve tried doing this in the past and have done well with Jimmy Buffett tickets, but the heartburn it caused me wasn’t so worth it. Products like this that have much more definitive expiration dates make me just a bit more nervous, because after all, even if Apple comes out with a new iPad, folks will still consider buying last year’s model.
• Chasing the Points shares the pitfalls of giftcard purchasing/reselling.
• Doctor of Credit (via MommyPoints) shares up to 2,500 bonus miles for shopping though the United MileagePlus Shopping Portal. Every little pit helps, especially with United. I wouldn’t go out of my way, but, if all things were equal, for up to $700 in spending, why not get some United Rupees.
  • When I originally saw this, I felt “its my niche, I gotta post it” but then I thought about it, and the fact is, its been posted by two prominent bloggers. That’s why its here, because its important to include, however not so important as to center an entire post around it, because it would be wasting your time (you being our wonderful readers!).

Nonsequitars:

• Phil Hall, who writes MilesAbound, somehow has time for a second blog too. He shares great insight on car leasing. It is definitely worth a read if leasing might be a consideration for you.
• Gary Leff shares insight into baseball players pulled up from the minor leagues to the Majors. Who would have known that they are hotel hoping every night? Hope they are maximizing their status!
• Doctor of Credit asks: How much are AMEX Offers worth annually? The answer may surprise you.
• From Dia, the Deal Mommy – you can get $34 cashback on hotel bookings when booked through BA, via TopCashBack. That could make a difference!
• Freequent FlyerBook shares insight into why we’re seeing a whole lot more posts from Ric, the writer of Loyalty Traveler, but more importantly he highlights how he blogs, providing meaningful content, not repeated (heck, that’s what these roundups are for, highlighting what others are writing that may be meaningful to our niche).
• Linked to both Freequent FlyerBook’s post (bullet above) Matt has a great post on a time he copied Gary Leff, why? Because he wanted to stay relevant! I think its a noble gesture, however, The road to hell is paved with good intentions. It is hard to create new, relevant material – a fact which I think we all realize.
• Airways News reports from on-board Cathay Pacific’s 50th 777-300ER (77W) delivery flight. It’d be fun to attend one of those delivery ceremonies and fly the delivery flight — some day!
• Freequent Flyer Book shares documents received from a Freedom of Information act (FOIA) request regarding the United Danish Kroner mistake fare. Interesting stuff.
