I'd never heard the term, "close and combine" before--have you?. SO got a new WFB Cash Back Visa Signature and we called to close his old WFB Plat and switch the CL to the new card. First person I talked to said, "it's a balance transfer,"-- nope. Second person called it a "line reallocation" but said the computer wouldn't let him do it so I asked to be escalated.
Got a nice rep who said it was called "close and combine" (I asked what the diff was betweeen line reallocation and close and combine and she didn't answer so I let it go.) She said she'd be glad to do it but not while the Platinum (his oldest card with NO benefits) still had a balance on it. Arghhhhh.. seems he decided to put his year end charitable contributions on it "just to keep it active," Guess he forgot the strategy. Some days I wonder why I even try to do any MS with our waning opportunities and recalcitrant partner!
