For fellow AvGeeks out there, this article is interesting. As someone who usually flies over 100K miles per year, I have had some of these feelings and observations as well. It is interesting to hear about the pilot perspective on this. His book looks very intriguing. Will have to check that out as well.

I don't fly much (maybe two or three round trips per year) and don't consider myself an AvGeek, but still found this article very enjoyable to read. Thanks for sharing.

One of the authors points:

Most of our overcrowded, over-stressed planet is … uninhabited

I have also been struck by this thought on a few cross-country drives and lots of travel (air and ground) throughout the Western US. Lots of wide open space out there...
