Rome Airport cutting capacity by 40%

via Business Traveller, due to an unfortunate fire Rome Airport is cutting back on capacity to 60%. This is the result of a “destructive fire” back in May.

The bright side is that Terminal 3 is primarily reserved for Domestic and Schengen (e.g EU) flights. But the fact remains, if you have the option of traveling via Rome, you would be wiser to choose a different transfer point.

From a personal note, I haven’t been in Rome in a few years, but last I was, I felt like the hotel was rather spread out. Mind you, I flew in and out of–I think–T5.

In reality, this will hurt Alitalia most, which is unfortunate, because I’m sure that they could use all the help they can get.

That is most unfortunate. I flew in and out of there a few days after the fire. My AA flight from ORD to FCO actually did fly into Terminal 3, but out of Terminal 5 FCO to ORD. I was concerned about delays but there were none at all.
