Pre-Check on AS through BA

My wife and I have Global Entry which includes TSA pre-check.

I recently booked an Avios award on Alaska Airlines (AS) through BA for my wife. Even though my wife's Known Traveler Number is entered into her Alaska profile, she did not receive pre-check for her flight.

There were two separate flight record locators received - one for BA and another for Alaska. At check-in on Alaska with the Alaska PNR I changed her FF# from the BA number to her Alaska account.

I know that foreign carriers do not have pre-check and don't expect to get it when flying a non-US carrier such as BA. I did however expect that she would have gotten pre-check when checking in on Alaska.

Is there anything else I could have done to get her pre-check?

When booking AA tickets with BA, I've gone in with the AA PNR after and added my AAdvantage number, which has my KTN tied to it.

You may have wanted to use the AS PNR before checkin to look up the trip and then add the KTN to the itinerary. This is effectively what I do with AA. I haven't booked any AS flights with Avios though, so I cannot say for certain there. But to me, it seems as though the KTN was never associated with this itinerary, and that is most likely the explanation why she didn't get Precheck.

couldn't you just ask Alaska at the check in counter to add Known traveler to the ticket?
My point was that we expected it to be there since it is tied to her Alaska account. When we checked in on Alaskaair.com with the Alaska PNR, her Alaska FF# and printed her boarding pass we found she didn't get pre-check. Is it too late to add the KTN after you've already checked in and reprint the boarding pass?

I just checked again and the KTN is still under her Alaska account and has been attached to her account for several months. Knowing what I know now, I should have asked the Alaska support person to add it when I got her PNR. Hindsight is 20-20.

We have another trip scheduled with Alaska booked via Avios later this year so I don't want to make the same mistake again.

I've used BA for AS flights a lot and Precheck has never come through. But I haven't bothered to try and add it at the airport, as usually it's from BOI and the lines are short anyway. I see a few comments on adding it via Finn Air website, but it didn't work for me. Also comments mention with AA you had to manually enter the KTN, so maybe although the FF# populated you would have had to add the KTN separately for some reason?

If you find an answer, I'd like to know as well.

We had a similar experience when using Aeroplan miles to book a flight on United. Even though my husband used his United FF# and KTN, he didn't get Precheck. He called to check with United and they confirmed they had his KTN in the system. On the flight back he had a ticket booked directly with United and got Precheck. My roundtrip was booked with United miles and I got Precheck both ways.

We just thought it was one of those random times he didn't get it to keep us on our toes, but maybe the foreign carrier connection had something to do with it?

It happened to me this weekend. I just took my printed ticket, along with my Global Entry card, to the customer service counter, and they printed out a new boarding pass that had TSA PRE on it.

Took very little time.

Do you pay extra for a global entry card? I never received one in 2011 when I got global entry, actually didn't know they had such a thing.

I have run into problems before on both AA and AS because BA does put in a known traveler number, but according to AA and AS ticket agents
A) they screw up the name match because they say my first name is JanetMrs
B) they append some other letters or numbers to my KTN so that it is incorrect

In either case, ticket agents at the airport can easily correct the bad data and Pre-check will almost always magically appear on my BP.

I have a Nexus card, but never received Global Entry card. At first they put a little global entry sticker on my passport, but then when I renewed my passport, they said they had stopped using stickers so I didn't get one. I know my family members that have gotten Global Entry in the past few years have received GE cards for free.

In any case, you shouldn't need the card, if you look up your KTN and write it down on a piece of paper that should work. There are safeguards in the system (name matches, etc) so that it doesn't matter if they enter the incorrect number or a fake number.

Nope. I was handed it at the conclusion of my interview. It came in a sleeve for protection.

Top says GLOBAL ENTRY.

Below is a truly awful, squinty black and white photo of me, and all of the relevant numbers, etc.
