Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask (Mod please take this thread down if it violates forum policy). Please send me a PM of the Cat 1 hotel if you do not want to disclose the information.
I'm currently 4 stays away from Platinum and looking to make 4 dummy bookings on Cat 1 hotels on weekends (for 2,000 points each), so that I can qualify for Platinum. However, I am not aware which Cat 1 hotels will allow me to check-in on the phone without physically being there. I mass emailed most of the Cat 1 hotels, and most of them replied that check-in on the phone is not allowed - which is not a big surprise.
I do know a couple Cat 2 hotels (3,000 points on weekends, that I actually stayed at and confirmed with front desk) that will allow check-in on the phone. Please message me if you want to know, but of course this would be rather pointless if there are Cat 1 hotels that allow phone check-in.
