Road-tripping to Phoenix for V-Day. Staying at the Hyatt downtown. Any suggestions for things to do, restaurants to try? We'll have a car. Still looking for a good dinner spot for Saturday.

Thanks!

I was told Bianco's is one of the top pizzerias in the country. It was quite good, though we noticed everyone else seemed to be eating 2-3x of our portion! Go with an appetite.

I enjoyed hiking the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in Scottsdale. It started to get really interesting about 2hr into it, around which I had to turn back. Shame.

Old Town Scottsdale is pretty neat. Lots of art galleries and shops.

If you like architecture, there's Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West. Just make sure it's open so you don't drive all the way out there only to be stopped by a guard.

Night-Vision Desert Tours is on my to do list.

There are a lot more restaurants and nightlife in downtown/Old Town Scottsdale than downtown Phoenix. I'd recommend going somewhere there for Saturday night. Central Phoenix has some good restaurants as well for lunch or for something different. The Hyatt you're staying at actually has a restaurant at the top that slowly revolves a full 360 degrees, pretty neat. There's a restaurant at the Pointe Hilton at Tapatio Cliffs that gives a much better scenic view in my opinion if you're in to views. If you like hiking, Camelback mountain is a popular hike. Beware that this is not an easy hike and you'll need plenty of water. Lots of tourists are ill-prepared and need to be helped off the mountain, especially when it's hot out. The Desert Botanical Garden has a pretty cool light installation going on right now for the evenings: https://www.dbg.org/events/bruce-munro-sonoran-light

Central Phoenix (near the downtown area) has some good restaurants, but Scottsdale has it beat hands down. There are museums and things downtown, but the only time I ever go downtown is for sporting events or to the previously mentioned pizzeria. I recommend you try to move your reservation to the Hyatt in old town Scottsdale or the Hyatt gained ranch. You will be much more centrally located to food , the mentioned hikes, and the tourist area in general.

If you like Mediterranean food Pita Jungle is a chain in Phoenix with multiple locations. cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale is good, but it's on the pricier side. February is a great time to visit Phoenix!

We do like Mediterranean. Gyro's are my favorite morning-after-drinking food.

Anyone have further insight into the Gainey Ranch Hyatt? The property looks ideal, but I'm not in a good point position and that extra $800 wouldn't be wise right now.

I do have 3 DSUs to burn. Our 1 year anniversary is 11/6, and it looks like a Palm Suite is available. Is that the only one that can be booked into with a DSU at booking?

Keep any other suggestions coming :) We aren't huge partiers, but chill spots with a good beer selection or music are enjoyable.

I remember the palm suite being pretty disappointing and that's the one you get with a DSU.
If you're going to be in Scottsdale later in the year, the Andaz should be opening mid 2016.
