I'm trying to book the following:
SJD(Cabo)-LIM: April 20. No real date flexibility and I want to depart SJD on April 20. But I don't mind spending a night or 2 somewhere on the way to LIM. I was thinking to book SJD-MEX with cash on AeroMexico for about $150 (but is there a better way to book that?) and then spend a couple of nights in Mexico City, maybe at a Club Carlson property. And then fly MEX-LIM with 20k UA miles in business, possibly with a 22-hour layover somewhere.
LIM-IAH: some time early May. I haven't really looked yet, but I was thinking about using UA, LM, or AA miles. I'm open to spending 22 hours in other places on the way back. I clearly prefer day flights though. The UA nonstop doesn't have a lot of availability.
Any and all thoughts/advice would be much appreciated!

2. What dates do you want to travel (mention how flexible you are)? see above
3. Do you want to fly first, business, or coach? (maybe also "are you willing to fly coach for a positioning flight"). Anything works. but long flights prefer business.
4. How many passengers? 1
5. How many points do you have, in which programs? Various and usually lots.
