Mandalay Bay/Delano, Las Vegas

Born in 1999, Mandalay is trying to modernize to keep up with the new kids on the block/strip. TheHotel got a facelift and became the Delano (a nod to the South Beach staple) and Delano Vegas is lovely. Stayed in a panoramic suite there a year ago and loved it (Delano is all suites btw.) Delano has no gaming and minimal restaurant/bar action but I don't think that matters as it's a stone's throw down the hall from all the stuff at Mandalay. Definitely a more romantic vibe.

Just got back from a newly renovated Great Room Suite at Mandalay Bay. 750 sq feet, giant single room with a side nook that was like a living room. We were only 14th floor, so even with a strip view, it wasn't a hell of a view. However, I wanted a renovated room and they have yet to complete the higher floors, so 14th was fine by me. My parents had the same type of suite (different layout) on the 6th floor -- also renovated and lovely but their view was of the casino roof.

I really like Mandalay Bay/Delano. The location means more cabs and walking to get elsewhere, but I also like that they have less foot traffic throughout than mid-Strip spots.
