Trying to find an international award from PHX to either Frankfurt (or Rome/Madrid/Barcelona or Tokyo). Friend has 320K LH miles and need 4 tickets from 2 week June to all of July 7/10 days trip. Tried straight MnM website and came up with awards that have huge taxes. Any ideas on how to avoid the taxes and find awards for M&M miles please?
Lufthansa M&M award with no/few taxes from PHX - help!

That's the trade off unfortunately with M&M. You have much better award availability (almost impossible to get 4 tickets on United), and fewer miles--but higher taxes and fees. In this case, where you have 4 people traveling and it's last minute, it's probably your best option--and not a bad one either.
