Just booked! NY - Bermuda 7 nights

Done this itinerary in the past, and while the destination isn't as exciting because of that, the ability to start the cruise from Manhattan, with no flights required, is a great advantage.

Elected the booze package since we will be docked 3 days in Bermuda and I might want a faffy Latte or something...

On a semi-related note, my off the grid name is Dylan J Hague and I'm in New York the 17th of September...

So it looks like that "free" cruise is not entirely free.
Still beats any price I could get.

Not free, but factor in the following:

  • Most people would book two guests ($200 for the kid)
  • I'm paying extra for unlimited drinks while in Port or at Sea (Bermuda docks for 3 nights straight) which is another $200 (that's the tips on that)
Therefore, the price for 2 people, in a balcony cabin to Bermuda here is $680 all in. I paid for that with $500 of vouchers, which cost me $250 to buy. Then it's $180 out of pocket on top.

I get the following freebies on top:
  • Free drinks when Casino is open
  • Free dinner (2-3 speciality restaurants with wine, plus $100 dining credit to apply anywhere)
  • $100 of onboard credit
  • $150 spa credit
  • Free other stuff (optional things like internet, laundry, more dining, etc)
And last up, I get free MS of $3000 per day at 3x :)

Sounds great! I'm jealous.
I got such a thrill MSing on a cruise. (Jan 2017)
Did it on RCCL with Mlife plat match for no fee cash advance. Used Amex offers and 3x CSR.
Don't gamble at all.

I like everything about this. Time to do some research!

This trip sounds like something right up my alley! 7 days, leaving from NYC (so no flight necessary...I can easily drive there), and all drinks included?!

Matt - Can you share any more information on how you scored the drinks, dinners, credit (onboard and spa) and the $500 vouchers? I've never taken a cruise, but you've got me very interested in one based on how inexpensively you've managed to do this one (and $3k MS @ 3x per day, no less!) .

How comfortable are you with casino gaming? :)

It's definitely not my favorite thing to do. Without knowing the specifics of Matt's MS plan, I thought he was implying that you can put $3k on a card and get $3k worth of chips, play a hand or two, and then convert that back to cash/electronic funds which could then be used to pay the credit card. If you have to actually gamble the $3k, then I'm less interested given that I'm not an experienced gambler, nor do I enjoy the thought of losing hard-earned money.

This gig required one paid in full cruise plus some gambling investment. The vouchers are bought onboard, $500 gives you a $250 rebate on your onboard spend, including the spend on the $500.

Hard to mimic. Probably the cheapest entry route would be to find a 2-3 day cruise where you could get hold of certificates and if you are ok with losing, get on the casino comp thing.

Nope, that's a different gig (stacked on this).

I really try to lose money in casinos also.

Bermuda is my favorite island, and Horseshoe Bay is my favorite beach. It's an expensive place, but every once in a while I treat myself.

My cruise on a balcony on the Breakaway cost $2,500. What a metziah you got! Congratz!

this may be a dumb question, but how did you get it so cheaply? is that the normal rates?

There is an Amex Norwegian offer. Will you get $100 credit if you load $500 to your on board account? It works at RCCL as several had reported. I am interested to know if it works at Norwegian and Princess Amex offers.

Is that the old offer? I had one a while back for NCL but don't see any now. I'm pretty sure it would qualify. What's the worst case if it doesn't? I guess you get your $500 back if you don't spend it, right?

No, this is an existing offer.

Get a one-time $100 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $500 or more to purchase a cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line via NCL.com, by phone or through your travel agent between 2/10/17 and 4/30/17. See terms for exclusions.

Grrr can't seem to find it on any card... is it twitterable? I've another cruise to book right now that I could use $1000 with $200 on...

Doesn't seem to be tweetable. It's on all my Amex cards when it was available.
