Total mileage if crediting to AA varies based on TAM or LAN ticket stock for inter-SA flights but a good fare to the destination either way. Can route via SCL to get 787 from JFK-SCL/SCL-JFK but seems to add $10-$30 more which is fine for me. Stopovers also possible in GRU/GIG per FT thread. I booked with 12 day time layovers in SCL to go into city and 12hr overnight in GRU for a good sleep. Good availability from September on via Orbitz, Expedia, kayak - though if using Kayak they want to route you to cheapoair where you only have 4 hrs for free cancellation and $25 up to 24 hours.
