How to improve meeting management skills in organizations.

Managing meetings effectively has always been a struggle for our team. Last month, we had a project delay because our meetings kept running overtime, and key decisions weren’t made on time. I feel like people either talk too much or not at all, and it’s hard to balance everyone’s input. Have you ever dealt with this? How do you make sure meetings are productive without turning into a waste of time?

I know exactly what you mean. We had the same issue in my office, especially with remote teams. What helped us was setting clear agendas and time limits. Also, we started rotating the meeting leader, so everyone gets a chance to manage discussions.
Another thing you might find helpful is exploring training programs that focus on meeting management. I remember coming across something on https://cmaconsulting.com.au/ about workshops for improving organizational skills, including managing meetings better. It might be worth checking out to get some actionable strategies.

Meetings can definitely be tricky, but I’ve noticed it depends a lot on the culture of the organization. Some teams thrive on open discussions, while others need more structure to stay on track. What worked for me was adding a “recap and next steps” session at the end of every meeting. Even a five-minute wrap-up makes a big difference.

For remote teams, having someone summarize key points in a shared doc or email right after helps everyone stay aligned. These small changes make meetings less stressful and more productive.
