How to get discounts Or earn more miles on contact lenses

Contact lenses are very expensive, and the major manufacturers are in cahoots to keep any store from selling them at a discount, trying to prevent "showrooming" at the optometrist office: http://consumerist.com/2014/07/31/contact-lens-makers-work-together-to-make-sure-you-pay-more/

It's not that I don't want my optometrist to make money, but a year supply of the lenses I wear is ~$700 and I resent the fact that I cannot shop around!

I noticed that TopCashBack offers 3% back for current customers of 1-800-contacts.
The United Mileage Mall offers 4 miles per dollar at 1-800-Contacts.

I also put money in my FSA so at least I am saving some extra with that.
Anyone else have any tricks to save money or get something back contact lense purchases.

Have you checked the prices at costco? Occasionally they have promotions for Acuvue.
Do they still do this? My understanding is that J&J and the other companies are getting away with making sure no company can sell below a set price.

So that is why I am suggesting buying them via a portal to at least get something out of the deal and fight the anticompetitive behavior.

Brand and quantity please.

No point looking to find a rebate if you are paying double the price...

I wear contacts and so shop around but often do not use 1-800 contacts even with a portal.

i have used vision direct before. the portals offer CB for them and there is almost always a coupon for 20 or 25% off available. once i got an awesome combination with CB, an acuvue rebate, and 25% coupon all combined. plus reimbursed by FSA anyway. however last time i went to order I ran into the issue with acuvue not allowing discounts and no longer having a rebate available.

i did my last order with coastal.com. i wear acuvue 1 day moist. I was shopping around for a deal for a while and delayed so much I started to run out, so I went ahead and I ordered a 6-month supply. I went through TCB and I paid $254, and received back $38.10 in CB and of course was reimbursed by FSA.

TCB is showing 20% back for an online order right now, AND Amex Sync has $20 off a $100 order, so if that might help, you can check your offers. I'm thinking I should probably go ahead and order some more since I didn't get a year supply last time. Just wish I could get them to run multiple $100 charges at a time!

Hmmm, may be making a phone call. :)

I always call 1-800-contacts and ask for price match to one of these online retailers:
https://www.opticontacts.com/process.html
http://www.webeyecare.com - (sneaky fees)
http://www.ezcontactsusa.com - don't order from there directly-bad reviews.

In my experience 1-800-contacts has the best and the most friendly customer service representatives there is! Hands down! They don't even require you to get them the price to match - they will do the whole research for you and you'll pick which store you want to match it to.

Cashback portals most likely will not work as you either have to place an order on the phone, or place it online (with cashback portal) and call to adjust prices.

Yea, I use 1-800 contacts price match as well. I tried doing it in conjunction with a portal bonus, but it didn't post.

Recently there was an Amex offer for Coastal.com for $20 off $100, I used that with topcashback portal bonus. I wear coopervision proclear 1-days and can usually get them for around 45/box.
