One of the great perks of Hilton Diamond status has been the use of the club lounge @ the Hilton, Aruba! The really nice feature was drinks and lite fare in the evening. I heard that club lounge access was discontinued so I reached out to the manager. I have met quite a number of peeps on this forum when staying @ the Hilton, Aruba. Though some of you might be interested in this return email:

Dear Mr.

Thank you so much for reaching out to me directly. We recently discontinued our executive lounge and floor. Upgrades to the lounge are therefore not possible however Diamond status will always be recognized as we value our most loyal guest. Diamond guest receive breakfast for two at our Laguna restaurant, upgraded rooms (based on availability) discounts at our Spa and for pool cabanas, next to the bottles of water in the room. We are also working on replacing our internet structure to the Hilton structure which means Diamond guest will get free premium internet vs standard.

We recently opened the Palm Beach Club. This club is situated on the 8th floor of the Aruba tower and provides exclusive amenities such as:

·Access to the club restaurant providing breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails

·Private Check-In & Check-Out

·Front row Palapa

·25% Discount on Pool Cabana

·$25 discount voucher for Eforea Spa

·Complimentary Late Check-Out based on availability

·Bottle of Premium sparkling wine and box of chocolates awaiting in your room

·Preferred restaurant seating in SSG

·Turn down service

·Robes and slippers

This club can only be booked online via the Hilton website.

Mr. , we welcome you back to our beautiful resort. By the end of November you will walk in to a complete remodeled resort in which I am sure you will like the look and feel.

I hope to have informed you accordingly and please feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions or concerns.

Cordially,

JAAP VAN DAM I Director of Operations

So they replaced the executive lounge with another executive lounge that Diamonds cannot get in unless they pay extra.

They clearly replaced it with a club, not a lounge. Go semantics!

Yep, I'm here right now.
This means erosion of the HHonors Diamond benefit, flat out.
They just renamed the bona fide executive lounge and, voila, you're have one less reason to stick with HHonors

They tried to deny me breakfast on check in today because I didn't book direct with Hilton.

Of course I didn't! It was owned by Carlson when I made the booking! After a bit of probing on my part they relented and gave the proper diamond benefits (except of course for their BS lounge -> club renaming...)

Yes, you need to push back. Did you get an upgrade? How are the rooms? Heard they did renovation or in process of refreshing all the rooms.

I thought it was BS that I had to argue at all. I've never had problems getting my Diamond benefits at another hotel (other than the BS distinction between continental and full breakfasts - which is solved by asking for a to go box. ;) ).

The room is fairly nice, not an upgraded room though, just a standard king in tower 3.

Our room at the Marriott last night was much nicer, but breakfast is more important to me than room quality (within reason of course).

The Mac-Daddy of low-ball status
the management at this hotel flat-out refused to stop responding to me after one email exchange (and i was not a jerk) over the raddison/hilton swap. they even refused to reply to TWO requests directly from HHonors. That should speak volumes on how they operate. I will never stay there unless it's legit free.

Would you mind sharing the specifics of the initial issue that caused the need for the contact?

They changed the cancelation cutoff date. Under the original terms it was one week prior. Then apparently they came back at some point and said we're changing the cancelation cutoff to some point a month or two in advance. I lost 100k CC points because of it. I recooped 50k HH as a courtesy due to the property never responding back to HHonors requests for input.
