If you thought irate passengers, extra fees, and crammed seating would keep air travelers from flying America’s brutally thrifty airlines, you were wrong. The latest data from the US Department of Transportation show that, on a rolling basis (year-over-year), monthly air passenger numbers on US airlines have been steadily ticking up, nearing record levels last seen before the Great Recession:

I despise flying US airlines, especially when, with foreign carriers, you get a snack/sandwich (and not just peanuts) and a beer or wine even on 60 minute domestic flights. Free. So, my trips thus far have always been economy but hope to change that ). LH economy is quite nice. Sure it's a bit cramped and the seat is hard like all but at least you get free booze and warm towels. SA economy even socks, eyemask and toothbrush/shaver kit. I guess last time that happened on a US airline was in the age of Pan Am. I hate flying domestic in the US, but admittedly haven't tried JetBlue.
