Frankfurt Airport to Strasbourg France: Transportation

Would be grateful for some help from the Travel community here. Four of us will be flying into Frankfurt airport in May and need to arrange transportation to Strasburg France. Our friends were in an accident in New Zealand earlier this year and will still have some mobility issues. The train doesn't have direct service within 5 hours of our flight arrival, and they would like to avoid schlepping luggage to connecting trains ( It would be very laborious and difficult for them to do so.)
I saw that there is a Lufthansa bus from Frankfurt to Strasburg, but we're unsure of how strict they are on the luggage. We will each have a checked bag as well as a carry-on bag- their webpage says a limit of one piece of luggage...
(Also was unable to find detailed information on the departure times.)
We are also discussing hiring a driver, or possibly renting a car.
We're looking for the least expensive viable option considering our travel group's limitations.
Would appreciate tips, advice or information that any of you can offer on this.
Thanks!

is overnighting in a Frankfurt hotel and taking the train next day not an option? The bus sounds like a good option though, just dig deeper into the luggage allowance.

No, we already have hotel reservations in Strasbourg and would like to get there by early afternoon if possible.
