OK. Hilton is my "backup" chain when there isn't a Sofitel. I have had Diamond status (FWIW which isn't a ton) for a couple of years due to matching and rematching with Accor. I've never gotten an upgrade but at least there's breakfast and a few extra points.
I was able to swap 30K Citi Thank You Points for 45K Hilton and combine those with my remaining points for 2 nights at the Conrad Maldives which might be as much as $850 for cheapest room, although I have seen $624 on the Hilton website.
Since these points were pretty much "free" as I didn't waste bonus spend to meet the minimum and I don't have a ton of uses for Citi TYP.
My theory is to use all of my points as quickly and effectively as possible since things change and free is still free and perhaps this will be the time we get an upgrade.
