Citibank 48 month requirement

I signed up for the Citibank Business Platinum Select AA card. Apparently I had opened and closed another Citibank branded AA card within the past 48 months. They are refusing to award me the AA miles. Has anyone gotten around this? If so, can you give me some advice.

I haven't heard of exceptions - but the public sign-up offer I see for the Business card has the rules: American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months.

Double check which card you opened/closed....
