I also found in an Argentinean a Business newspaper the news that Hyatt is in advanced stages of buying Starwood hotels . I wonder what it means to people that have a lot of points in SPG, Hyatt and/or status. I have lots of SPG points and I am wondering if,when this merge is announced , I should transfer spg points to an airline.

Yikes! I hope Hyatt doesn't buy SPG. There will be more point dilution. Less competition will mean more point devaluation. Bring on the Chinese!!!

A merger among American Company's could be detrimental to our points game. I'm not enuthisastic about a Chinese take over either. I wish Starwood all the best of luck, they are my favorite points program.

This is sad news indeed. Maybe the more prudent choice would be to wait and see, and start planning my next SPG vacation.

This is pretty much how I feel about it. Consolidation never works out for the consumer. Just look at the airlines.
