In the ongoing shopping wars between these two behemoths, another piece of news.
Prior to this year, I had been using Discover and other cards to get 5% on Amazon purchases, but it a slight hassle since it was only a temporary promotion.
This year, I signed up with Synchrony Bank's CC, which gives 5% all the time or until further notice, lol.
My Discover card has seen light use in 2016.
Today, I get an email notifying me that Discover will now give 5% CB on Walmart.com. I was already getting 3% via ATT Citi More Access, so this squeaks out another 2% which is a bit surprising since I'd always thought (or assumed maybe incorrectly) that Walmart was operating on thinner margins, since their portal pay outs are so low - or maybe that's purely due to their market dominance = no need to give out incentives anyway.
So bottom line, Discover paying 5% on Amazon and looks to be until further notice.
