CC vs eligible stays

Do Credit Cards and eligible stays combine for Hilton in order to obtain status or is it always one or another? I travel a lot for work and decided i should get a CC for the places I stay at so I can max out points.

Any tips for a new member when I have to book through My companies portal instead of using my own cc?

I'm not 100% clear on your question. Although, I believe you're asking something akin to if I get gold status with Hilton (you have the Amex Surpass or Citi Reserver, for example) does that count at 20 stays/40 nights, so I only need 10 more stays/20 nights for Diamond (since Diamond is 30 stays/60 nights). The answer is No - they don't combined. The Credit Cards get you the status only, not the equivalent number of nights/stays.

With some other chains (e.g. SPG) you get some nights/stays qualifying toward status with the credit cards.
