Receive Delta CC Perks While Paying Airfare with a Different Credit Card?

Hey all, I've scoured the web and have had no luck finding the answer to a specific question: Can the card holder of a Delta CC still board in Zone 1 if they use a different CC to pay for the airfare?

I suspect the answer is 'yes' given that the free checked bag still works, but I haven't been able to find the answer to my scenario, and it makes a difference to someone who wants help with a CC strategy. I was hoping someone could confirm my hunch.

In Feb I remember doing a flight to Key West on points, paid the taxes with Citi Prestige and still had zone 1.
