1. How would you frame the conversation for a retention call? Usually I start with 'thinking of canceling the card' and hope they connect me to retention specialist. But it's not the case always.
2. I tried to get annual fee waived for Amex BCP. The agent always said they are glad to cancel or downgrade to a no-fee card. How else to get them to make offers?
I was offered 5k miles on US airways MC card if I spend 1k in 90 days. So I kept it. Annual fee not waived.
