Hotel Quote In Taipei Review With Giveaway

While I was in Asia, I also had a stop in Taipei, Taiwan. Taiwan doesn’t seem to be especially good for point redemptions. While Starwood Preferred Guest has 5 hotels in Taipei, the rates for redemption did not fit the bill. The Hyatt that’s there is rumored to be haunted (here and here). There is recent anecdotal evidence that it is not. It was also recently renovated.

My coworker went to Taipei early in the summer of 2014 and was recommended Hotel Quote for its central location, being a nice boutique hotel, and affordability. After she came back and gave me the positive review, I too booked this hotel. From what I heard and this doesn’t apply to many of you, if you have a Taiwan issued American Express, you are eligible for a discount. They are also part of the Visa Luxury Hotel Collection, similar to American Express’ Fine Hotel and Resorts.

The room (U room) is kind of small and reminiscent of the Hyatt Regency Tokyo in terms of size:

Not shown entirely, to the right of the shower is the toilet with a bidet. To cover the bathroom, a curtain of about 10 feet is pulled across

Some free snacks to the room:

Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures of the 24 hour lounge that guests have access to. It’s on the second floor, with easy access to non alcoholic drinks and snacks all throughout the day. Snacks were things like trail mix, nuts, and packaged snacks. Breakfast is also available in the morning from 6 am to 11 am local time. Inside the lounge, they have maps around Taipei and hotel amenities and then some for you to grab if you need it.

Final Thoughts:

The hotel location is nice, it’s across the street from the Taipei Stadium if you are specifically going there for an event. There’s also a Starbucks around the corner. Our room that we had, was on the second floor, for the light sleepers, I don’t recommend it for two reasons.  Friday night and Saturday night music is turned up because of the lobby lounge and the lounge is nearby and you may hear residual noise. If you go, please send my regards to Amelia.

Giveaway:

This isn’t your usual giveaway for some really awesome product or, and I’m not entirely sure why the hotel gave me. Anyway, if you book directly with the hotel for a night you could get an upgrade and a drink. Rules to enter: Just post something that you plan to see in Taipei. Entries will close on 12/8 11:59 PM EST. I will choose a random comment. [Insert other legal language I may have missed]

  • My wife and I both have family in Taipei so when we go back, it’s usually lots of catching up with family combined with lots and lots of feasting at night markets.

  • Plan to see the in-laws right around the corner of this hotel and of course pay a visit to 101. The upgrade voucher would be awesome.

  • I would love to see the national palace museum and the city itself.
