Hang Up And Call Hyatt Again

Many people advise the HUCA – Hang Up and Call Again tactic because many Customer Service Representative, frankly, don’t know their own programs. I have an upcoming stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki hotel and I booked a three night stay with points and cash and would go into the negative balance. She noticed it as well and said something along the lines of after the booking you’ll be -1000 points and that’s the maximum allowed. I thanked her for booking my stay and we concluded our call.

A few weeks later, I called up Hyatt again to change my reservation to make it a four night stay. I still didn’t have enough points, I transferred in 6,000 points and the agent told me he wasn’t sure if the system would allow him to book me at -4000 points, but he would try. It turns out that you could book and can be at a -4000 balance.

Does anyone know what the maximum negative balance that Hyatt would allow?

    • Wow, thanks for that! It took me a bit for me to talk the CSR to book my room with the “large” negative balance, but 37.5k blows mine out of the water.

  • So do too just have to get the points into your account by the time your stay comes up?

    • It certainly seems that way, so long as you get the points in your account by the time you make it to your stay
