Bluebird Problems?

I have had the Bluebird since late October of 2012. I barely take the Bluebird out of the house unless I take it to Walmart to load. My difficulties finding Vanilla Reloads makes me load the Bluebird at a $1000 each visit to Walmart.

My records indicate that I have purchased eight Vanilla Reloads and $4800 loads at Walmart over the five month span. This makes a total of $8800 loaded through Bluebird. Only in January did I come close to the max load for the month, at $4000.

After checking the statements, I have never used this card to swipe at a POS, online purchases, ATM, or have any bank account linked. Usage was only through bill pay to Direct Loans and Chase Credit Cards.

On March 4, I had $1000 left in my account and paid Chase for a 0 balance. On March 6, I loaded $1000, and on March 7 I loaded $500, both days using Vanilla Reloads. On March 9, I loaded $1000 at Walmart for a balance of $2500.

On March 9, I attempted to added a new Chase card for the online bill pay where I was prompted with:

We are unable to complete your request at this time. Please call Customer Service at 1-877-486-5990.

Today, March 11, I called that number and the conversation was pretty straightforward. We went through the standard procedure of verifying my account, first name, last name, and the four digit security code on the front. Here’s where the interesting turn happened in the conversation, the agent asked me “you’re calling about the account that ends in XXXX, right?” I said yes, not thinking much of it. Then another interesting turn, she asked me to verify my email address!

She then proceeds to tell me that I’ll need to speak with someone from Account Protection Services at 1 800 660 2454 Monday to Friday 8 AM to 7 PM EST.

With that, she asked me if there was anything else she could do.

I’ll have to report back on what happens after I call them tomorrow. I need to place a very strategic call depending on the hour. I don’t want to call at a time when they may be grumpy in the morning or the last call of the day where they want to leave and would just shut my account down completely?
