As a follow up to the post to bill paying in Manhattan without Walmart, any transaction over $500 requires your license to be inputted into the system as well as your picture being taken. I was not pleased with either. The clerk also told me that location I had visited had a $900 limit per transaction, but other locations could be a larger transaction.
That being said, it changes the math a little bit with a 1% card. If we could max out at $2000 per transaction it would have been a $.0067/point opportunity. Instead at $900 it becomes a $.0086/point.
|Cumulative Load Fee||Cumulative Cash Balance||Points Earned||Bill Pay fees||$/pt generated|
If you’re in Manhattan and are striking out with Vanilla Reloads, I would recommend this option. It takes a couple of steps and a tiny bit more expensive ($.0086/pt compared to $.0078), but at least you can still manufacture spend.
The next experiment that I plan to try is a One Vanilla card.
