\"Quantcast\"/

I apologize in advance for the lack of posts recently.  I’ve been traveling, which I need to write about and get those posts up.  I wanted to quickly alert folks to a potential deal if you need to top off a Dividend Miles account.  I received an email with a targeted offer to buy US Airways miles and receive up to a 100% bonus depending on the purchased quantity.

Oddly, the deal has been good since July 7 and expires on July 31, but this is the first notice I’ve received.  Based upon that, I recommend logging in to your Dividend Miles account and checking to see if you’re eligible if you’ve otherwise been waiting for a promotion to top off an account.

Bonus Structure

• Buy 10,000 to 19,000 miles, get 50% bonus miles
• Buy 20,000 to 29,000 miles, get 75% bonus miles
• Buy 30,000 to 50,000 miles, get 100% bonus miles

Cost

The cost works out to about 1.9 cents per mile if you purchase the maximum.  That is by no means a screaming deal, but if you have a redemption in mind and just need the miles, this may help.  At this price, I would not purchase miles speculatively, especially not for travel on US Airways metal since I find their own low tier availability to be lacking.

Potential Use

Still, if you’re combining this with the 40,000 mile sign up offer on the US Airways Mastercard, you could end up with 4 off-peak coach seats to Europe for roughly $1500 in mileage purchase cost + taxes/fees, which works out to be a nice deal.  I will, however, strongly recommend that you research availability before buying any miles, as off-peak availability is thin to some European cities, and even worse if a connecting flight to the hub is involved.

I receive a commission if you sign up for the US Airways Mastercard using the link above.  Please don’t sign up for this or any credit card unless it really makes sense for you.
