Thursday 2/27 is the final day for new players to join the Manufactured Spending Tournament, I’ll actually be traveling for part of the day, but feel free to shoot me an email to matt@saverocity.com or tweet me @saverocity and I will make sure you make it on the list, for those following along on twitter we are commandeering the hashtag #milemadness for all events, please use it when tweeting about the tournament or to the players so we can keep in touch with you.
The Tournament Kicks Off on Saturday March 1st, and here is a quick introduction to the players:
The Miles Professor is a mathematician who loves to travel and squeeze every bit of value from every mile. With her blog, she aims to show how to make vacation booking with miles and points simple, efficient and luxurious. She focuses on maximizing miles and vacation time for travel to Europe, the Caribbean, South America, always using the right points for every trip and adding on stopovers plus free or “cheaper than free” one ways to get the most trips for the fewest miles! She is excited to participate in a fun contest with her fellow bloggers and is making the month of March a personal challenge for herself: Earning enough points for a trip to her dream destination, Easter Island, later this year. She’ll be traveling business class and staying at the highly acclaimed Palacio Duhau Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires along the way. Living in New York, where competition for Vanilla Reloads is fierce, time is scarce and there are no Walmarts, The Miles Professor is going to have to rely on her quickness, instincts and other techniques to seek out the right tools and scale her strategy and make her trip to Easter Island a reality! Chasing The Points is about finding creative ways to generate reward points. The quest to buy cheap or points in a large city without a car efficiently is the hunt. Join me in finding the next deal! Connect with me on Twitter @ChasingThePts or email me at chasingthepoints@gmail.com
Bio- I am a Finance professional, married with several kids and currently a non-native resident of the Midwest after living in a few countries overseas. As work travel slowed I started to focus on other ways to get points and miles. I started the blog to cover points, miles, Finance and particularly reselling as the card signups were pretty well covered. Blog topics include finding great deals, especially those that rack up miles and points, then lowering the net cost through discounts, gift cards, portal bonuses, and rewards, and selling on Amazon or Ebay. In addition to flying, Tahsir finds new ways to earn points and miles through a variety of manufactured spending methods. On a good month, he earns close to 100,000 miles! Good luck to everyone! I would definitely be doing this if I wasn’t in India most of March. Is it weird to be jealous of those who are participating?
Matt says
I’m jealous of India, so we are quits!
Points with a Crew says
Love this contest – it’s right up my alley on the type of contest I really enjoy, but I don’t think I have the time (or probably the knowledge) to match up with these fine fellows (and ladies!)
But I’m definitely looking forward to reading everyone’s stories (and hopefully picking up a few tricks!) along the way.
At least we can hopefully push the people using #milemadness to talk about (gasp!) RUNNING down off the first page 😀
S says
Well, I hope you idiots are happy. No more Vanillas with credit card at CVS. People tried to warn you bloggers that a public competition would bring unwanted attention to this hobby, and it did. Thanks for killing the golden goose.
Matt says
The golden goose was never killed, it was brought by the youngest brother to the castle and made the princess who was living in despair laugh again, and they lived happily ever after.
Just like you don’t know the reality of the story you try to quote, your claim that this had anything to do with the rumor is ludicrous.
