I hope you like the catchy title.. I’m about to ™ it. I stumbled across the Frequent Miler Lab today and the first thing that struck me was the results tab (success/partial success/failure/sent to prison).
I started scanning through it, naturally focusing only on ‘Success’ because who cares if something has failed, amiright?
Then I realized.. while the Success columns might have some value, the real cheddar is in the column that has both a Success followed by one, or more, Failure data points. The reason? A classic case of intentional disinformation when a big gig is found. In fairness, I didn’t look for such pairing here, so I don’t know if a gem or two are being hidden, but generally speaking, when you only look for the ‘Success’ as you might naturally do, you might be missing out on something special.
When you get a table like this it is somewhat obvious, but in a forum thread or comment on Reddit/a Blog it might be a little harder to spot. The next big clue is when you have an extreme person posting the Fail/Neg. A brand new poster implies a throwaway account.. a cranky/old hand who suddenly becomes ‘helpful’ is another clue, and lastly.. anyone who looks like PF Digest in the flesh isn’t to be trusted…

Great point. Personally, if i read about a deal that doesn’t work, I go out and try it because there is sooo much disinformation out there. I just consider it part of my daily routine. BTW, I didn’t know PFD was so cranky looking…………………LOL
