When I visited Southern Italy last summer, one of the tools in my kit was Secret Escapes. Secret Escapes is a Great Britain based hotel flash sale site that has recently expanded into the US. I like Secret Escapes for 3 reasons:
- Secret Escapes has a healthy referral conga where you can earn $40 for signing up and up to $100 just for referring others-without spending a dime.
- Most offers include extras such as upgrades and breakfast and can be booked for just one night.
- The site has an extensive network of properties in Europe (being based in Britain) for prices I’ve not seen anywhere else. Last summer I paid $81/night for a beautiful room in Coastal Italy that included dinner and breakfast. They also have packages to far flung places including air from London which could be real deals combined with an award ticket.
There’s one tip to fully utilize Secret Escapes: make sure you visit both the USA and UK based sites. The best referral bonus is on the USA side, but the UK site often has properties you can’t see on the USA list. The credits just transfer at the current exchange rates.
You can switch back and forth as often as you like UNTIL you make a booking. Once you’re booked, you can’t change. I use the site from my email in the UK and from Deal Dad’s in the USA to make sure I see the best of both sites. Just today I saw a deal for the Park Hyatt Siam Reap on the UK site I couldn’t find from the USA.
