Beginner’s Guide to Fulfillment By Amazon: Start Here

Reselling is a great way to generate points, miles, and meet minimum spend. Fulfillment by Amazon makes reselling much easier, because Amazon takes care of most of the heavy lifting. It’s also a great way to build a side business for additional money to pay for your travel, or other priorities.

I won’t go in depth here, but as with any business there are risks involved with reselling, such as taxes and the speed of conversion from buying, shipping and selling product to receiving the money from Amazon can span a month or more.

Conclusion

Getting into reselling can offer greater flexibility as you continue (I hope) to accrue miles for travel. That’s how I got into it. It is a business, which can have many positive effects, such as increased income, and more opportunities to put spend on points and miles earning credit cards. Always remember that you should keep purchases to only how much you think you can float, while waiting for the product to sell.

  1. It will. But, as with any fairly complex way to make money, a lot will start, and then quit, saying that it doesn’t work.

I see it in the threads here on Saverocity. People pop in, asking questions that could have been answered if they’d read the information from Amazon proper. Wanting others to interpret the messages they get from Amazon. Wanting others to reveal their sources, their go to items to sell.

Not gonna happen. Even if I tell Suzie and Sam the name of a website, they won’t, necessarily, be willing or able to spend the time I spend there, looking for specific items on short term sales. I certainly won’t be telling them the items, either.

I really love what you are doing here. You are teaching people to fish. And, because that’s just how people are, some of them will decide that there are too many mosquitoes on the water, the sun hurts their eyes, and can’t figure out what to do with the fish once they’ve caught them, and will stop.

Best thing that can happen to the rest of us, really. I sincerely hope that the quitters don’t hurt themselves too badly, though. They need a LOT of lead time, especially at first. That awesome bargain may take two months to sell, and another three weeks for them to get paid. Can they deal, financially, with that possibility?

    • @MickieSue – I agree, it is a complex way to make money, and it does take time and effort. I hope I’ve done a good enough job to lay out the risks. My goal is to inform, and, as you stated, teach folks to fish. Not everyone will fish. But for those that do, they hopefully won’t be starting in the deep end, so to speak.
